Vietnam — Day 5: Hoi An Ancient Town, Lantern Walks & Riverside Dining

Wake to a quieter pace in central Vietnam, where mornings unfold slowly. After breakfast at your resort, travel by private car or hotel shuttle (20–30 minutes) into Hoi An Ancient Town, best explored entirely on foot.

Begin with a leisurely walking route through the UNESCO-listed old town. Covered bridges, wooden shopfronts, and softly weathered temples line the streets, each reflecting centuries of trade and cultural exchange. Pause at small courtyards, art galleries, and silk boutiques — Hoi An rewards those who wander without a schedule.

Mid-morning is ideal for a tailoring visit. Many ateliers are located within walking distance and offer same-day fittings for custom garments. Even if you’re not shopping, the craftsmanship and attention to detail are worth experiencing.

For lunch, walk to Morning Glory Signature, one of Hoi An’s most refined Vietnamese restaurants. Traditional dishes are elevated with careful presentation, and the shaded setting provides a welcome escape from the midday warmth.

In the afternoon, enjoy a short boat ride on the Thu Bon River. Boarding points are easily accessible on foot from the old town, and the gentle movement of the river offers a refreshing contrast to the walking earlier in the day.

Return to your resort by private transfer in the late afternoon to rest or enjoy spa time. Evenings in Hoi An are best approached slowly.

As sunset approaches, travel back to the ancient town for its most magical hour. Lanterns illuminate the streets, and the river reflects soft colors as the town comes alive.

Dinner is reserved at Mango Mango , a riverside restaurant offering creative Asian fusion cuisine. Afterward, enjoy a quiet lantern walk along the river before returning to your hotel by car.

Travel Tip:

Visit Hoi An’s old town earlier in the day to avoid peak crowds. Evenings are magical but busier — plan dinner slightly later for a calmer experience.
